Last week I talked about how goal-setting is an old technology, and how making promises is like upgrading from your car-phone to a smart-phone.
Well "to-do" lists are similar. Like setting goals, we all use them, but we are rarely committed to them.
Let's think about the terminology. "To-Do" something is not really a big deal. We can always do something later, tomorrow, or not at all. If we have a task that we really want to get done, that we have to get done every day or every week to be successful, we give it a little more weight than just something "to do."
Let ask you a question. Do you get a lot done in a day? 100% of us in the business get A LOT done pretty much every day. If we don't, we go out of business.
Why is this important? With or without a "To-Do" list we find a way to get things done. It is actually 100x more important NOT to do things than to spend time doing a lot what we do on a given day.
In this short video I talk about some of the things you are going to have to stop doing, and the process we use in place of "to-do" lists.
Think about the logic here:
- Eliminate time-wasters by using a not-to-do list.
- Set only three priorities a day and promise to complete them.
- You will have plenty of time to complete the 6 income producing activities every day.
- You will have the freedom, flexibility, and money to do what you want in life.
Think you can live without a to-do list? Can you eliminate one major time-waster from your schedule using a not-to-do list? If so, you're on your way to becoming an elite agent.
Check back over the next two weeks for a more in-depth look at setting those daily priorities and promises.
